Vicky's Memories with Jackie

The Easter egg hunt (circa 2014)

Nick and George and their friends had requested that Jackie and Neil host an Easter egg hunt for them despite everyone being in their 20s. Nick brought Vicky, his at the time, quite new girlfriend (and now wife) and George had just started properly dating Jess (his now wife). Jackie went to great lengths to make it a great day, including a special Easter brunch, eggs and bacon of course but also fairy bread which nick introduced Vicky to for the first time, as he loved it when he was a child. The annexe was decorated with lots of Easter themed decorations and despite everyone being adults, it was great having such a fun party set out for them. Neil and Jackie had hidden hundreds of chocolate eggs in the garden at Highview and after a few silly games of egg and spoon, and sack races, everyone was very excited to begin the hunt. Shoes were thrown to slow people down and everyone tore around the garden stuffing their bags full of chocolate. It was such a fun day and Vicky got her first taste of a Holloway event and all of the special touches that Jackie would put into a party.

Florida 2018

Nick talked a lot about his memories about going to Florida as a family so Vicky was intrigued about the two week trip that they, along with Neil, Jackie, George and Jess were going on. Jackie and Neil had a three bed apartment in orange lake as their final time share hurrah together. They spent a lot of their time chilling at the apartment, or by the pool. Highlights included monster trucks derby, the crocodile centre, universal studios with Harry Potter, and of course, nick and Vicky getting engaged when they went off for the day scuba diving at Ginnie Springs. Nick proposed with a unicorn tat ring but when they got home, they designed a ring from three of Jackie’s diamonds which is beautiful!

Nick and Vicky's wedding

Nick and Vicky had a small wedding - less than 30 people, in London in June 2019. They followed in neil and Jackie’s footsteps of it being a surprise which was probably quite annoying for most people but they made it very personal. In the morning, Neil, Jackie, Vicky’s Dad (Derek) stepmother (Heather) aunt and uncle (Rosie and Aaron) and family friends (Doug and Maureen) came to their house on harcourt road in brockley, for breakfast. It was a lovely sunny morning, made slightly stressful by the taxis not turning up, but Uber saved the day. The ceremony was at Peckham registry office and the registrar was really personable as fun. After photos in the garden they all took taxis to the royal festival hall which is the starting point of nick and Vicky’s first date and where Jales (Vicky’s mum) joined the party. The afternoon then followed the story of their first date, which was a treasure hunt around the southbank, with some silly games included and ending at polpo, an Italian restaurant for dinner. Lots of people did speeches, Nick, George, Neil, Edward and Diego and Jonathan (Vicky’s brother). The night ended at the piano bar, a club where people could request songs and the band would play them live. It was a wonderful day, lots of fun and laughter!

The birth of Theo

Theo, Nick and Vicky’s first born, was born in November 2020, in a lockdown from covid 19. It was a strange time, where even Nick wasn’t allowed to come to scans and where people had to isolate before being able to visit other people. Nick and Vicky were extra cautious because of Nick’s cml and of course also having a newborn so Neil and Jackie had to isolate for two weeks and stay in their flat in Forest Hill, before they could visit Theo. They went into isolation as soon as Vicky’s waters broke, it took three days for Theo to be born so about 10 days after that they were his first visitors. Jackie and Neil were so excited to see Theo, and hold him and spent lots of time over the following week visiting them in Brockley, having cuddles and trying to calm him down as Theo was colicky and hard to console. Even so, it was a very special time for them having a new baby in the family.

The birth of Emmy

Emmy was born in July 2023, quite a contrast to when Theo was born. Nick and Vicky had moved to Maidenhead and had settled in nicely by the time Emmy came along. From waters breaking to being born it only took 2.5 hours and with covid isolation being a distant memory, Neil and Jackie came up the following weekend to visit Theo and Emmy. Emmy was a very chill and happy baby, content being passed around and got lots of attention from Neil and Jackie while nick and Vicky played with Theo, who did a fabulous job adapting to life as a big brother.
