Dear Jacky,
When I married Yuan Yuan three years ago it was during the Covid lockdown and big weddings weren't allowed. I could have only two guests at the ceremony in Croydon Register Office (the witnesses) and 20 at the celebration meal in an Italian restaurant.
After including our nearest relatives I was left with just two spaces for friends. I'm fortunate to have a number of good friends, so who should I choose? I didn't even have to think about it, I just had to have you and Neil there. You have both been, and still are, very, very good friends. You are both immensely wise, I value your advice more than I can say and you have supported me hugely through a couple of difficult stages in my life. But even more importantly you are terrific company. I love our many conversations. So much laughing in between the serious bits.
The picture I have just sent you separately is a snap taken at our wedding feast and there you are! Thank you for coming then, and for all the happy times we have spent together.
Much love
Charles and Yuan Yuan
